DROITWICH Spa Judo Kan Judoka members Liam Jones and Eve Skillern are celebrating after the pair walked away with medals at the British Schools Special Needs competition.
Jones and Skillern travelled to Kidderminster’s Samurai Judo Club to take part in the event with the duo securing bronze in their respective fights.
Jones showed excellent skill in his fights to secure bronze, while Skillern, who was making her first competition appearance, put on a great show against experienced opponents to also claim the bronze medal.
Instructor Richard Morrish said: “It was an excellent result for them both. We are very proud of Liam’s and Eve’s achievements.”
There was further success for Droitwich Spa Judo Kan as several members of the Judoka travelled to Stockland Green Leisure Centre, Birmingham, to fight for their grades.
Many of the children were first time graders and it was a rewarding day for everybody involved.
Nobody came away from the grading event disappointed and Droitwich Spa Judo Kan now has a variety of graders on the mat each week.
Jack Stenmark-Morrish and Skillern were both graded in the Mini Ninjas category.
Meanwhile, Lily May Degenkolb, Jake Andrews, Molly Charlwood, Ellie Bullock, Kuba Krol, Harry Evans, Sian Evans, David Morrish and Megan Skillern graded in the main class.
Instructor Morrish added: “They all fought very hard and we could not be prouder of them for their achievements.”
