The Droitwich Mixed C team secured an emphatic 10-0 win at Ombersley B to move into second place in Division Five East of the Herefordshire and Worcester Summer League.
Chris Passey and Heather Fellows battled hard to win their first match 6-4 3-6 7-6 before a more straightforward 6-3 6-1 victory in their second. Sue Webber and David Lamb were equally impressive, winning 6-0 6-3 and 6-1 7-5.
The Droitwich Ladies C team were left with a losing draw after their home fixture against Wall Heath B in Division Six East.
Christina Sellers and Diane Owen got Droitwich off to a flying start with a 6-3 7-5 win in their first match but were beaten 4-6 4-6 in their second. Aileen Baker and Marilyn Sherring lost 5-7 5-7 in their first match but responded excellently in their second match, winning 6-1 3-6 7-6.
Elizabeth Fielden and Ishbel Crossley also lost their first match 4-6 4-6 but won their second match 6-2 2-6 7-6.
The Men’s F team remain in a relegation battle in Division Nine East following their 5-1 home loss to Bromsgrove G.
Captain Steve Whittaker and Mark Alexander fell to a 7-5 2-6 0-6 defeat in their first game before making amends with a 7-6 6-0 win in their second.
Despite their best efforts, Paul Webber and Kevin Pollard lost both of their matches 3-6 5-7 and 3-6 1-6 and Jon Ball and Jack Roberts also put in two spirited displays but went down 2-6 2-6 and 2-6 3-6.
The Droitwich Men’s B team hopes of promotion in Division Four East took a blow as they lost 4-2 to table-topping Stourbridge D.
John Moran and Nick King were unlucky to lose their first match 7-6 4-6 6-7 and didn’t have much left in the tank for their second match which ended 1-6 2-6. Bob Smith and Kevin Hodges won a tight match 4-6 6-2 7-6 before a 4-6 2-6 defeat in their second.
After losing their first match 4-6 0-6, Joe Maidment and Ian Bowmanhit back to win their second match 6-2 6-2.
The Men’s C team were beaten 5-1 away to Hallow A in their Division Four East contest
David Lamb and Peter Fawcus battled it out in a two-and-a-half hour battle, but ultimately lost 6-3 5-7 4-6 before a 0-6 2-6 defeat against a solid pair in their second. Neil Bates and Ben Steel lost their opener but then recorded a 6-3 6-4 victory. Despite the best efforts of Carlos Segura and Mark Pearsall, they lost both of their matches 6-7 3-6 and 2-6 1-6.
The Droitwich Mixed B team lost 4-0 to Worcester C at home to lie sixth in Division Two.
Caroline Brookes and Ben Steel lost their first match 3-6 0-6 before a 0-6 6-4 3-6 loss in their second. Linda Price and John Moran gave their all but lost 3-6 3-6 and 6-2 3-6 4-6.
Meanwhile, the Under-8s beat Worcester U8’s 15-1 in their Mixed Division Two fixture and move to second in the table with impressive wins for Barney Danks, Oliver Stevens, Finnley Pritchard and Harry Smart.
The Droitwich U14 girls had a tough match at home in the U14 Girls Division Two where Megan Ross and Imogen Alldritt put in some hard-working performances but unfortunately lost 3-0 against top-of-the-table Stourport U14 girls.
