ANDY Crowther is ‘proud’ to have achieved 100 wins as Droitwich Spa boss ahead of a crunch FA Vase tie at Holbeach United this weekend.

Crowther brought up the milestone following Spa’s 6-1 victory against Redditch Borough in the Wiseman Lighting Floodlit Cup at the King George Playing Fields.

And Crowther praised the club’s set-up both on and off the pitch after bringing up a century of wins in just 145 games since taking charge at the start of the 2021/22 season.

Crowther said: “It’s always nice to get to a milestone and to do it in only 145 games is also nice, I didn’t know about the numbers until I was told this week.

“It’s brilliant, it’s always something to be proud of but everyone in the background and the players and coaches have played their part, it’s a superb achievement for everyone at the club.

“It was a game of two halves, first half we didn’t really get out of the blocks but it was just one of those performances where everything went right in the second half.

“It was a great performance in the second half, probably one of the best of the season and even more so with the under-18s and development team players which shows the strength in depth we’ve got.

“The Gornal win will always stand out, that technically clinched us the title in front of a decent crowd.

“It’s about getting experience and getting the people around you that you need to help you develop and grow, the journey Droitwich have gone on has helped as well.

“Playing at Stourport Swifts and moving back to Droitwich and what’s going on in the background and all the support I get.

“The big thing for me is the players, the mutual respect we have, I’ve had a lot of the players for a fair few years now.

“It’s not just being the manager, we’re all mates but we know when gameday comes around when that respect needs to come in.

“The players have helped my growth as a manager immensely.”

Crowther is in his fourth season in charge at the King George Playing Fields.

He guided Spa to promotion to Step Six for the first time in the club’s history in 2021/22 after winning the West Midlands Regional League Division One title in his first season at the helm.

Spa now make the long trip to Lincolnshire-based Holbeach as the club look to extend their run in the FA Vase.

Crowther added: “It’s going into the unknown, we do quite well when we go into the unknown, it’s going to be a great day and occasion.

“The lads step up when we go into the unknown, we’ve just got to take confidence from what we’ve done so far this season.”

Droitwich travel to Holbeach in the FA Vase on Saturday, October 19 with kick-off at 3pm at Carter’s Park.
