NATHAN Binner’s sublime free-kick helped Droitwich Spa to a 4-2 win against Bewdley Town in the Worcestershire Senior Cup.

Binner curled home from 25-yards out late on in the first half after Roland Krol and Gavin Podmore put Spa in command at the King George Playing Fields.

Substitute Connor Collins completed the scoring to seal the win after Bewdley threatened a comeback with two quickfire goals from Josh Hines and Josh Harrison.

The Saltmen have now dumped the Midland Football League Premier side out of the Senior Cup for the second time in as many seasons.

Bewdley created the game’s first chance as Charlie Foley headed narrowly over the crossbar.

However, Spa broke the deadlock with their first meaningful attack on 28 minutes as Krol flicked a header into the right corner of the goal from Jack Davies’s pinpoint ball.

And Krol went close to a second soon after, drilling a low effort towards goal which Bewdley goalkeeper Kyle De Garis gathered at the second attempt.

The home side forced De Garis into another save soon after with the keeper palming Luke Molloy’s free-kick over the bar.

From the resulting corner, Spa doubled their lead as Podmore headed in Molloy’s corner from the right.

And the Saltmen extended their lead on 43 minutes when Binner curled a delightful free-kick past De Garis from 25-yards out to all but wrap up the cup tie.

Spa almost added a fourth goal before half time as Josh Hurdman turned his marker before firing inches wide of the post.

Chances were at a premium in the second half as De Garis denied Davies from close range after the midfielder burst into the box.

Bewdley reduced the deficit on 81 minutes when Hines connected well with a floated corner from the left to leave Dom Rogerson in the Spa goal rooted to the spot.

And Bewdley struck again on 87 minutes as Harrison drilled home from the penalty spot after he was pulled down in the box by Rogerson to set up a nervy finish.

However, Spa sealed their place in the next round with one minute left to play as Colins tapped home following good work from Perry Moss.
