DROITWICH Spa stretched their lead at the top of the table to nine points following a 3-0 victory at Tytherington Rocks.

Goals from Perry Moss, Charlie Tilley and Cory Rudd sealed a comfortable win for the Saltmen at Hardwicke Playing Field while the Rocks had Lewis Bezer sent off late on.

The result means Droitwich lead the Hellenic League Division One table by nine points although second-placed Redditch Borough have a game in-hand.

Spa have now won 13 of their 15 league matches this season and remain unbeaten.

Andy Crowther’s side went close to an early opener as James Lemon shot inches wide of the post.

However, Moss fired Spa ahead on eight minutes when he stabbed home Alex Dugmore’s low cross after the latter outmuscled Tytherington’s Alex Sumner.

Lemon went through again moments later only to shoot wide when one-on-one with Rocks goalkeeper Peter Dykes.

The home side responded with a chance of their own as Dom Rogerson, making his 50th appearance for Spa, kept out Max Ferretti’s low drive.

As the conditions began to worsen, Dugmore squandered two chances from close range before Liam Pullen fired narrowly wide from distance for the hosts with Rogerson beaten.

Spa remained on top before the break as Dykes made a fine save low down to tip Tilley’s shot around the post before Lemon sent a chip over the bar from a tight angle.

Tytherington spurned a glorious chance to draw level early in the second period as Matt Hoare saw his first time effort sail over the crossbar when well-placed in the box.

Droitwich then missed a golden chance of their own as Dugmore pounced on a weak backpass and touched the ball past Dykes only to shoot over with Tilley and Moss waiting for a tap-in.

However, the visitors doubled their lead on 52 minutes when Tilley beat Dykes from close range at the second attempt after Tytherington failed to deal with Dugmore’s flicked header.

And substitute Rudd sealed the points on the hour mark with a powerful finish into the roof of the net from 20-yards out from Moss’s cross.

Rogerson made a fine save to preserve Spa’s clean sheet as he sprung into action to keep out Kyle Head’s venomous strike.

Crowther handed a first team debut to Harry Griffiths from the bench before Tytherington substitute Bezer needlessly stamped on Nathan Binner and was shown a straight red card late on.

Droitwich are next in action against Stonehouse Town on Saturday, November 30 with kick-off at 3pm at the King George Playing Fields.
