DROITWICH Spa battled to a 2-1 win against Fairford Town to secure a third straight league victory.
First-half goals from Cory Rudd and Charlie Tilley put the Saltmen in command at the King George Playing Fields.
A late goal from Fairford substitute Tom Chamberlain set up a tense finish but Spa held on to claim the points.
The result means Droitwich sit fifth in the Hellenic League Premier Division table.
Fairford went close early on as Alfie Presley’s effort hit the outside of the post.
And the visitors spurned another chance when Joah Hall’s powerful shot travelled inches over the crossbar.
Spa responded with a couple of chances of their own as Reiss Taylor-Randle and James Lemon both saw efforts blocked.
However, the Saltmen broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark when Rudd curled a shot into the top corner from Jack Brighton’s cross after he latched onto Ben Tilbury’s through ball.
Droitwich doubled their lead on 40 minutes as Tilley produced a deft finish back across goal.
And only a crucial save from Fairford goalkeeper Connor Johns kept the visitors in the contest at the break.
However, the away side halved the deficit two minutes from time when Chamberlain’s effort evaded Spa’s debutant goalkeeper Dominic Hill.
Fairford pushed for an equaliser but Spa held on as Andy Crowther’s side celebrated a third successive victory.
Droitwich are next in action against Longlevens AFC on Saturday, August 16 with kick-off at 3pm at Kingy’s.
