PERRY Moss scored twice as Droitwich Spa ended their pre-season schedule with a thrilling 4-4 draw against Lye Town.

Moss struck in both halves after Charlie Tilley opened the scoring and Connor Collins netted late on to rescue a draw at the King George Playing Fields.

The Saltmen took the lead after just three minutes as midfielder Tilley scored for the fifth successive game with an excellent low strike.

However, the Northern Premier League Midlands side, who play two levels above Spa, equalised shortly after as Adam Meacham’s fine shot from the edge of the penalty dipped under the crossbar.

Lye had plenty of chances to take the lead before Moss scored a tap in from close range moments before the break.

However, the visitors responded for a second time on the stroke of half time as Dennis Diley finished well from close range to send the teams into the break level.

Spa goalkeeper Dom Rogerson kept the scores level with a string of saves before Joe Palmer completed the turnaround for Lye on 74 minutes with a simple finish.

However, Droitwich were level just two minutes later as Moss converted Collins’ cross to level up the game for a third time.

Lye looked to have won the match with seven minutes to play when Sam Tye’s powerful header found the net only for Collins to dispossess Town goalkeeper Ben Newey and roll the ball into the empty goal with three minutes left to play.

Droitwich begin their Midland Football League Division One campaign away at Hinckley AFC on Saturday, August 5 with kick-off at 3pm at Kirkby Road.
