DROITWICH Spa remain unbeaten on the road following a 2-0 victory away at bottom club Carterton.
Spa took the lead through Alex Dugmore’s first-half goal before Perry Moss sealed the points nine minutes from time at Swinbrook Road.
And the result means Droitwich sit nine points clear at the top of the Hellenic League Division One table.
The Saltmen need just seven points from their remaining five matches to secure the league title.
Victory for Droitwich also consigned Carterton to relegation who sit eight points from safety with just two games left to play.
Spa felt they should have had a penalty as early as the third minute after Ben Tilbury went to ground in the box under a challenge from Ryan Moore.
The Saltmen struggled to beat Carterton’s offside trap throughout the first half.
However, Nathan Binner saw his effort from 18-yards out cleared off the line with Carterton goalkeeper Darby Wood beaten.
Spa wasted a raft of chances before the break as Moss twice failed to test Wood while Josh Hurdman and Dugmore also fired efforts uncharacteristically off target.
And Sam Carey then headed narrowly over the crossbar from a corner while Dugmore saw his powerful effort deflected wide.
However, the visitors eventually broke the deadlock on 23 minutes when Dugmore headed in Hurdman’s corner.
Spa spurned a glorious chance to double their lead on the half-hour mark when Wood produced a fine save to deny Hurdman when one-on-one.
Carterton improved after the break as both Nick Rose and Cian Fitzgerald tested Dom Rogerson in the Droitwich goal.
At the other end, Moss, Hurdman, Carey, Dugmore and substitutes James Lemon and Charlie Tilley all saw chances come and go.
Dugmore went close to a second goal as Wood superbly tipped his flying header over the crossbar.
However, the Saltmen won a penalty on 81 minutes after Dugmore drew a foul in the box.
Moss stepped up to coolly dispatch the resulting spot kick and seal the points for Andy Crowther’s side.
Spa had chances to extend their lead as Lemon twice failed to find the net late on.
Droitwich are next in action against Kidlington Reserves on Saturday, March 22 with kick-off at 3pm at Yarnton Road.
