DROITWICH Spa moved within touching distance of the league title following an emphatic 4-0 victory against play-off chasing Stonehouse Town in midweek.
The Saltmen need just a single point from their final three fixtures to clinch the title after Jamie Sauntson, Perry Moss, Alex Dugmore and Matt Fusco all found the net at Oldends Lane.
Spa lead the Hellenic League Division One table by 11 points and only need to draw one of their remaining matches to become champions.
Droitwich made the perfect start as Sauntson nodded in from a few yards out after Jordan Schofield kept out Dugmore’s initial header from Nathan Binner’s corner.
And Moss doubled the away side’s lead on 35 minutes after he raced onto a long ball and chipped the onrushing Schofield from outside the penalty area.
Andy Crowther’s side all but sealed the points on 58 minutes as Lewis Phillips sent Dugmore through and the latter produced a clinical finish into the bottom corner.
Spa added some gloss to the scoreline in injury time when substitute Fusco finished Josh Hurdman’s low ball in from the right at the back post as Spa netted their 100th league goal of the season.
Droitwich can seal the title if they avoid defeat against Shortwood United on Saturday, March 29 with kick-off at 3pm at Meadowbank Stadium.
