DROITWICH Spa’s promotion hopes suffered a blow after the Saltmen lost 3-2 away at 10-man Wednesfield.

Spa took an early lead through Alex Dugmore’s seventh minute goal only for Wednesfield to equalise soon after at Amos Lane.

The home side had Tony Agnello sent off on 25 minutes as the Saltmen looked to take advantage of the extra man.

However, Wednesfield completed the turnaround on 39 minutes to leave Spa trailing at the interval before the home side struck again shortly after half time.

The Saltmen pulled a goal back late on when Connor Collins found the net with four minutes left to play but it proved too little too late as Spa suffered a second successive defeat.

The result means Andy Crowther’s side sit fourth in the Midland Football League Division One table.

Droitwich are next in action away at Bilston Town Community on Saturday, March 30 with kick-off at 3pm at Queen Street.
