DROITWICH Spa slipped to a 3-1 defeat away at Coventry Copsewood as the Saltmen lost for the first time in 10 matches in all competitions.

Despite taking an early lead through Roland Krol’s goal, Coventry completed a first-half comeback before sealing the points in the second period at Allard Way.

And the result means the Saltmen sit third in the Midland Football League Division One table, four points behind leaders Hinckley AFC with a game in-hand.

Fresh from dumping Worcester City out of the Senior Cup, Droitwich made the perfect start when Krol’s volley found the bottom corner after just two minutes.

However, Coventry equalised on seven minutes when Sam Ellis produced a clinical finish past Joel Chadwick after racing through on goal.

Droitwich almost reclaimed the lead soon after as Cory Rudd headed narrowly over the bar from a corner.

However, the home side completed the turnaround on the half-hour mark as Bryan Kohreylon beat Chadwick in the Spa goal having earlier set up Ellis’s opener.

Andy Crowther’s side went close to a leveller just before the break as Coventry goalkeeper Oli Manual made a superb save to deny Perry Moss.

The home side improved after the interval and almost extended their lead when Kohreylon beat Chadwick to a loose ball only to shoot wide from a tight angle.

Spa lost Moss to the sin bin soon after and Coventry made the man advantage count on 77 minutes when Ellis scored his second of the game via the aid of the post.

Chadwick twice denied Kohreylon in the closing stages while Josh Hurdman hit the post at the other end before James Lemon fired over from eight-yards out.

Droitwich are next in action away at Smethwick Rangers on Saturday, December 2 with kick-off at 3pm at Church Road.
