CONNOR Collins scored a hat-trick as Droitwich Spa cruised to a 5-0 win against bottom of the table Haughmond to secure a third successive home victory in the league.
Collins struck twice in the opening 10 minutes before completing his treble in the second period whilst Sam Hurdman netted a brace from the bench at the King George Playing Fields.
The result means Spa sit sixth in the Midland Football League Division One table, just one point outside of the play-off places with three games in hand on the team above them.
Andy Crowther’s side made the perfect start as Collins headed in James Lemon’s pinpoint cross inside the first 30 seconds from close range.
And Collins doubled his tally on nine minutes as he slid the ball under onrushing Haughmond goalkeeper Kian Parsons and into the net after he was played through on goal.
Spa saw numerous chances come and go as Lemon, Perry Moss, Luke Molloy, Collins and Cory Rudd all tried their luck to no avail before Alex Dugmore made a superb last ditch block at the other end.
Collins and Molloy were both denied by Parsons at the start of the second half before the former completed his first hat-trick of the season with a finish into the far corner.
Substitute Hurdman increased Spa’s lead within five minutes of his introduction with a fine finish before Moss, Rudd, Lemon and Molloy were all denied.
Crowther handed a first team debut to Josh Hurdman, brother of Sam, from the bench who impressed down the left hand side with some tricky footwork.
And S Hurdman completed the scoring with the pick of the goals with a measured finish from the edge of the penalty area.
Droitwich are next in action away at Wolverhampton Sporting Community TONIGHT (Tuesday, March 21) with kick-off at 7.45pm at Pride Park.
