JOSH Hurdman scored a hat-trick as Droitwich Spa romped to a convincing 6-1 victory away at Chipping Sodbury Town.
Hurdman netted twice in the first half before completing his treble after the break at The Ridings.
After Hurdman’s early double put the visitors ahead, Ben Tilbury extended Spa’s lead before Alex Dugmore netted a quickfire brace while the home side netted a late consolation.
The result means Droitwich sit six points clear at the top of the Hellenic League Division One table, with three games in-hand on the team below them.
Spa broke the deadlock after just seven minutes as Hurdman latched onto Dugmore’s flicked header and finished into the bottom corner from a tight angle.
And Hurdman doubled his tally for the game on the quarter-hour mark when he charged down goalkeeper Teddy Maggs’ clearance and tapped home into an empty net following a short back pass.
Droitwich extended their lead on 31 minutes as Tilbury headed home Hurdman’s looping cross from the right to all but seal the points just past the half-hour mark.
Spa stretched their lead after the break on 58 minutes when Dugmore volleyed a cross from the right into the top corner at the near post.
And Dugmore struck again four minutes later as the striker produced a clinical finish after running clear of the home defence.
The Saltmen added a sixth goal on 68 minutes when Tilbury drew a foul in the box and Hurdman converted the resulting penalty to complete his hat-trick.
Chipping Sodbury scored a consolation goal nine minutes from time courtesy of Liam Towler as Spa cruised to their biggest away win of the season.
Droitwich are next in action against Wellington on Tuesday, March 4 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Kensal Ground.
