LUKE Molloy scored two penalties as Droitwich Spa battled to a 4-2 victory against Wolverhampton Sporting Community.
Molloy started and completed the scoring as goals from Cory Rudd and Perry Moss helped Spa record a come-from-behind victory at the King George Playing Fields.
The result means Droitwich sit third in the Midland Football League Division One table, three points behind leaders Hinckley AFC with a game in-hand.
Droitwich broke the deadlock on 33 minutes when Charlie Tilley drew a foul in the box and Molloy dispatched the resulting spot kick despite visiting keeper Vitor Pinheiro diving the right way.
However, Wolverhampton drew level just before half time as Connor Parker tapped home from a couple of yards out after Spa goalkeeper Joel Chadwick misjudged the flight of the ball at a corner.
And the visitors completed the turnaround in bizarre fashion on 49 minutes when Craig Tuckley found the net despite the assistant referee raising his flag for offside.
After a discussion between the officials, the referee awarded the goal despite Droitwich’s defence having stopped when the flag was raised.
However, the Saltmen equalised shortly after when Rudd’s sensational volley from 25-yards out flew into the top corner.
And Spa reclaimed the lead on 63 minutes as Moss cut inside and fired an accurate shot past Pinheiro following an excellent jinking run.
The home side sealed the win late on after Jack Brighton won a penalty and Molloy scored his second spot kick of the game despite Pinheiro getting a glove to the midfielder’s effort.
Droitwich are next in action away at Nuneaton Griff on Saturday, October 7 with kick-off at 3pm at The Pingles Stadium.
