DROITWICH Spa returned to winning ways with a convincing 5-2 win against Shawbury United to end a run of three consecutive defeats.
The Saltmen took an early lead through Connor Collins before Alex Dugmore struck twice after the break with Perry Moss and James Lemon also on target in the King George Playing Fields.
And the result means Droitwich sit fourth in the Midland Football League Division One table.
Spa made a quick start and were in front on eight minutes when Collins headed into an empty net at the back post from a deep cross from the left.
However, Shawbury responded well as Spa goalkeeper Matt Oliver made a fine save to deny Marco Adaggio.
And it was then Spa’s turn to be frustrated by Shawbury stopper Will Cox as he prevented Collins, Moss and Lemon from extending the home side’s lead.
The visitors equalised on 36 minutes when Jeff Agyeman rose highest to head home at a corner from close range to send the teams into the break level at one-apiece.
However, Andy Crowther’s side reclaimed the lead on 47 minutes when Dugmore picked the ball up on the halfway line before beating three players and producing a clinical finish.
And Spa had a two-goal cushion just three minutes later when Dugmore scored a trademark bullet header from 10-yards out.
The Saltmen made sure of the points when Moss’s precise shot found the net before Lemon completed the scoring with another powerful header.
Shawbury rallied in the closing stages, as Oliver made two stunning reflex saves, only for Elliot Lee to grab a late consolation goal.
Droitwich are next in action away at Wednesfield on Saturday, September 24 with kick-off at 3pm at the Cottage Ground.
