HAYDN Morris scored a brace as Droitwich Spa twice came from two goals down to draw 4-4 with 10-man Wednesfield in an eight-goal thriller on Non-League day.

Morris drew Spa level in the first half before Wednesfield raced into a two-goal lead only for Connor Collins to reduce the deficit shortly before half time.

However, the visitors restored their two-goal cushion in the second half only for Morris and Cory Rudd to strike and rescue a point for Andy Crowther’s side at the King George Playing Fields.

The result means Droitwich sit sixth in the Midland Football League Division One table, two points behind Bilston Town in fourth with two games in hand.

Spa made a disastrous start as Wednesfield took the lead on three minutes when a mix-up between Dom Rogerson and Scott Braiden-Smith allowed Jack Dew to open the scoring.

However, the Saltmen drew level on 12 minutes when Morris tapped home Collins’ cross from close range after the latter and James Lemon were both denied.

Wednesfield restored their lead when Rhys Horton controlled a poor Rogerson clearance and sent the ball back into the Droitwich goalkeeper’s net from 30-yards out with the stopper stranded.

And Horton increased Wednesfield’s lead with a header at the back post after Ashley Southall’s long throw was flicked into his path.

However, Droitwich responded on 42 minutes when Collins drove the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.

The away side scored their fourth goal early in the second period as Horton completed his hat-trick with a powerful finish from close range after Spa failed to clear their lines at a corner.

Crowther’s men refused to give up and were handed a lifeline when Morris scored his second of the game with a fine run and finish before Luke Molloy’s effort was cleared off the line moments later.

And Spa completed a superb comeback when Rudd scored his first goal of the season with a fierce low drive into the bottom corner from distance.

Wednesfield’s Southall was dismissed for an elbow on Collins late on with Spa unable to make the most of their numerical advantage as the game finished all square.

Droitwich are next in action at home to AFC Bridgnorth TONIGHT (Tuesday, March 28) with kick-off at 7.45pm at the King George Playing Fields.
