DROITWICH Spa secured their place in the end-of-season play-offs with an emphatic 4-0 win away at in form Bilston Town on Easter Monday.

The Saltmen were rampant in Wolverhampton as Cory Rudd, Alex Dugmore, James Lemon and substitute Josh Hurdman all struck to secure a comprehensive victory at Queen Street.

And the result means Droitwich sit third in the Midland Football League Division One table with just two matches left to play.

Andy Crowther’s side made the perfect start when Rudd produced a sumptuous volley on four minutes as the midfielder picked out the corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Spa doubled their lead early in the second half when Dugmore finished from close range before Lemon beat the offside trap and finished across goal to all but seal the points.

And there was still time for Hurdman to come off the bench and score Spa’s fourth goal on 82 minutes as he drilled the ball home via the aid of the post.

The win extends Droitwich’s unbeaten streak to nine matches in the league and ended Bilston’s own eight-game run without defeat whilst Spa have now scored 103 goals in just 38 games.

That came after the Saltmen eased to 5-1 win at the King George Playing Fields against lowly Heath Hayes two days earlier.

Spa beat Heath Hayes for the second time in the space of four days with Lemon, Dugmore, Hurdman, Luke Molloy and Haydn Morris all on target at Kingy’s.

Droitwich host Nuneaton Griff on Saturday, April 15 with kick-off at 3pm at Kingy’s.
