FOOTBALL - Saltmen to play Worcester City in cup

DROITWICH Spa have learned their opponents in the Worcestershire Senior Cup.

Spa will host Midland Football League Premier League side Worcester City in the first round of the competition.

The Saltmen have enjoyed a fabulous start to life as a step six club having finally moved into their redeveloped King George Playing Fields home.

And the club are currently flying high in the Midland Football League Division One table having won six of their opening seven matches.

Opponents Worcester are languishing at the foot of the Midland Premier table having endured a tough start that has seen them fail to win any of their opening five matches.

Worcester have won the competition a record 28 times and reached the final last season where they were beaten on penalties by Pershore Town.

Spa’s clash with Worcester takes place on Tuesday, October 18 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Kingy’s.
