FOOTBALL - Second-half penalties help Drotiwich Spa earn point away at OJM Black Country

CONNOR Collins scored a pair of second-half penalties as Droitwich Spa came from two goals down to draw 3-3 with OJM Black Country.

Spa fell behind early on before Perry Moss equalised only for OJM to strike twice more and take a two-goal lead into the break.

However, Collins converted two second-half spot kicks to earn the Saltmen a share of the spoils at Eckersall Road.

The result means Spa sit third in the Midland Football League Division One table with at least two games in-hand on the teams above them.

Andy Crowther’s side made a nightmare start as OJM took the lead after just two minutes when Louis Conway finished from close range after Callum Nimmo’s header came back off the crossbar.

However, Droitwich equalised on 10 minutes as Moss finished from 12-yards out after good work from Collins.

OJM restored their lead three minutes later when Eshan Greer tapped home Taylor Hommer’s cross after Spa coughed up possession on the halfway line.

The home side extended their lead on 42 minutes as Jordan Sangha headed in from close range to leave Spa with a mountain to climb after the break.

Droitwich rode their luck at the start of the second period as Sangha spurned two glorious chances to take the game out of Spa’s reach.

And Spa were handed a lifeline on 58 minutes when Moss drew a foul in the box and Collins sent Tom Clapp the wrong way from the penalty spot.

The Saltmen looked set to draw level soon after only for Conway to foul Spa’s James Lemon from behind with the striker through on goal with the OJM man shown a straight red card.

And Spa made the most of the man advantage to equalise on 85 minutes as Collins tucked away his second penalty of the game after Moss won another spot kick.

Droitwich are next in action at home to Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday, January 9 in the Worcestershire Senior Cup with kick-off at 7.45pm at the King George Playing Fields.
