DROITWICH Spa held off a late fightback to win 3-2 away at Wednesfield as the Saltmen secured back-to-back victories in the league for the first time since October.
Goals from Perry Moss, James Lemon and Ollie Thompson put Spa in command only for Wednesfield to strike twice late on at the Cottage Ground.
The result means Droitwich sit sixth in the Midland Football League Division One table.
Andy Crowther’s side grew into the game but had Haydn Morris to thank for keeping the scores level when he made a crucial goalline clearance to deny Joe Finch.
Droitwich took the lead on 22 minutes when Lemon muscled his way past Ashley Bellingham which saw Moss run through one-on-one and find the bottom corner sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
At the other end, Matt Oliver made a fine save to tip Lee Mayne’s powerful effort around the post before the keeper came to Spa’s rescue again to deny Cody White.
The Saltmen responded with chances of their own as Lemon’s header hit the woodwork and Jack Brighton’s effort was tipped over the crossbar.
Spa eventually doubled their lead when Lemon tapped home into an empty net on 35 minutes from Moss’s pass after Wednesfield failed to clear their lines at a corner.
And Droitwich looked to have wrapped up the win when substitute Thompson expertly picked out the bottom corner from a through ball.
The home side reduced the deficit through Jack Dew’s powerful strike into the bottom corner on 75 minutes before Rhys Horton struck four minutes from time to set up a tense finish as Spa comfortably saw out the remaining minutes.
Droitwich are next in action away at Wolverhampton Sporting Community on Saturday, December 10 with kick-off at 3pm at Pride Park in Walsall.
