FOOTBALL - Spa remain in promotion hunt with Bustleholme victory

DROITWICH Spa extended their winning run to four matches with a 4-1 victory away at Bustleholme to keep the pressure on league leaders Gornal Athletic.

Perry Moss struck twice for the Saltmen with Alex Dugmore and Haydn Morris also on target at Illey Lane.

The result leaves Droitwich second on the West Midlands Regional League Division One table, 13 points behind Gornal with four games in hand.

And Moss opened the scoring on 17 minutes when he finished well after cutting in from the right assisted by a deft touch from James Lemon.

Moss soon doubled Spa’s lead with a ferocious strike that left the home goalkeeper with no chance.

However, Bustleholme halved the deficit early in the second period from their first set-piece of the match.

Droitwich restored their two-goal lead when Dugmore scored a towering header from close range to net his eighth goal of the campaign.

And Morris rounded off the scoring to complete a comfortable win as Spa contend with a congested fixture list which sees them play seven games in the space of 14 days.

That run begins with a home game against Sikh Hunters tonight (Wednesday, April 20) with kick-off at 7.45pm at Walshes Meadow.
