DROITWICH Spa produced a superb performance to win 3-0 away at Coton Green as Andy Crowther’s side secured a fifth successive victory.
James Lemon’s goal of the season contender and further strikes from Connor Collins and Alex Dugmore ensured Spa maintained their perfect start to the New Year at New Mill Lane.
The result means Spa sit sixth in the Midland Football League Division One table, level on points with OJM Black Country who occupy the final play-off place.
Coton Green started well and spurned two glorious chances to take the lead as Reinaldo Forbes and top scorer Matt Gardner were both unable to capitalise when presented with good opportunities.
The Saltmen eventually gained a foothold in the game as Lemon flashed an effort wide of the post before Scott Braiden-Smith headed over.
However, Lemon finally broke the deadlock with a sensational strike just before the half-hour mark as his powerful dipping volley from 20-yards out left Lewis Landers rooted to the spot in the Coton Green goal.
And after Lemon saw another effort cleared off the line, Spa doubled their lead on 40 minutes when Collins headed into the bottom corner after he was left unmarked, six-yards from goal, to convert Perry Moss’ cross.
Droitwich searched for a third goal as Lemon hit the woodwork and had a second attempt scrambled off the line.
However, Spa put the game to bed from the resulting set-piece as Dugmore smashed the ball home from close range to seal the points.
Droitwich are next in action at home to Pershore Town TONIGHT (Tuesday, January 10) with kick-off at 7.45pm at the King George Playing Fields.
