PROMISING cricketers from Droitwich returned victorious when they defeated Avoncroft by 50 runs in an u15s friendly.

Skipper Lewis Keen and Josh Sinclair batted with skill and common sense as they put on 102 for the first wicket.

Keen drove fluently as he compiled a personal best of 42, while Sinclair also showed a developing range of shots in his 35.

George Taylor continued his good form with a rapid half century, including a sweetly timed straight six as the innings closed on 188 for 3.

It was a different story in the field for Spa as they continued to struggle to bowl with a controlled line.

Spraying the ball both sides of the wicket, they conceded 40 in wides as keeper Keen was given a torrid time behind the stumps.

It was left to u14 wicket-keeper Joe Goss to show his team mates how it was done as he picked up two wickets in the final over as ‘Croft ended on 136 for 5.

There was also an encouraging debut for Fin Williams who showed promise with his alert fielding.
