A GOLFER from Droitwich won a silver medal at the prestigious English Amateur Championship at Royal Liverpool Golf Club.
Grace Bowen finished as runner-up to local favourite Lucy Jamieson in the women’s final over 36 holes.
Bowen suffered a narrow three and one defeat to come away with a silver medal.
The Droitwich golfer lost the first hole and trailed for the entirety of the front nine.
However, Bowen responded on the back nine as the lead changed hands a couple of times.
She levelled the game on the 14th hole only for Jamieson to land birdies at 15 and 17.
Bowen won the final hole to close the gap back to a single shot.
And Bowen then won three successive holes to lead by two as the players went around the course for a second time.
Jamieson responded to win holes five, six, eight, nine and 11 as the home favourite took a three-hole advantage.
However, Bowen showed spirit to win holes 12 and 13 and reduce the deficit.
Jamieson holed a crucial birdie at 16 to lead by two with two holes remaining.
And Bowen could not take the final to the last hole as Jamieson secured another birdie to take the title.
