MAISIE Whittall, from Droitwich, is hoping to end her season in style when she takes part in the 2023 Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship at Quinta do Lago in Portugal.
The 15-year-old, who plays out of Gaudet Luce Golf Club, will compete against some of the finest young golfers from across Europe in the Algarve from October 30 to November 3.
And the action will take place on the prestigious South course at Quinta do Lago, a 72-par layout voted Europe’s Best Golf Course and Portugal’s Best Golf Course at the 2023 World Golf Awards.
The competition is open to any golfers aged 18 or under at midnight on January 1, 2023, making it a breeding ground for exciting young talent.
With events for both girls and boys, the Championship sees 12 young golfers in each category compete across 54 holes of stroke play.
Golfers from across the UK, Ireland and Portugal will be taking part in this year’s competition.
The headline sponsor of the event since 2019, Rose recently helped Europe win the Ryder Cup against the United States of America.
Rose forms part of an illustrious roll call of iconic names who were victorious in the tournament at the start of their respective careers.
His recent winning Ryder Cup colleagues Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick both put themselves on the map with success at the event, as did Ladies European Tour stars Jodi Ewart Shadoff, Melissa Reid and Carly Booth.
