High fives all around for victorious Villa

JOHN Pykett struck twice as Fairfield Villa thrashed Upton Town 5-1 to progress to the quarter finals of the Worcester Junior Cup.

The striker gave Villa a 2-0 lead at half time before Fairfield stepped things up in the second period to secure their place in the last eight.

Upton arrived looking to frustrate the hosts as they took every opportunity to run the clock down. They also had the first chance of the game as Aaron Collins saved a free kick.

This proved to be a wake up call for Villa as Connor Collins had his shot saved by the keeper before his next attempt was cleared off the line.

The match was locked at 0-0 until the final four minutes of the first half. Tom Smith finally broke the deadlock with a scissor kick before Pykett casually rounded the keeper to tap home to give his side a two goal advantage at the break.

Fairfield remained on top in the second half as they created chances at regular intervals and got their third on the hour mark. Pykett put the ball in the box for Collins who controlled it with his chest and fired in for his 14th of the season.

With ten minutes left of the clock, Villa got their fourth when Pykett weaved his way into the box and slotted the ball home.

Upton got one back, but the home side completed the rout with a goal from Ellis Blakemore on the 88th minute.
