Himbleton skipper Dickenson excited for new season

STABILITY and continuity are the keywords from skipper Stuart Dickenson as Himbleton look to make an impression in Division Two of the Worcestershire County League this season.

The Meadow Boys are keen to continue their impressive form of last season when they were crowned Division Three champions, winning three-quarters of their games.

And Dickenson hopes his experience in the top divisions of the Kent League will help his side adjust to the increased demands following promotion.

“The squad has a familiar feel to it,” he said.

“All of last year’s squad have confirmed they’re up for the challenge and I’ll be looking forward to a full season from Rob Perrins, Greg Dale and Richard Sugden who all joined midway through last year.

“Our bowling came on leaps and bounds last year and Sam Jenkins arguably had his best season with the ball as the leader of the attack.

“He’s turned into a really class act and I hope he keeps on developing.”

Dickenson was also hopeful Mike Rogers and Jamie Alford would be back fit to bowl and confirmed Luke Brace would continue behind the stumps.

“I’m excited ahead of this season,” added the skipper.

“We’ll be playing on new grounds and against teams we haven’t played before.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to surprise a few of them with our ability.”
