Manor Park 5 Droitwich Spa 22
Midlands Three West (South)
DROITWICH became the first team in nearly two years to return from Coventry side Manor Park with victory.
Spa made it six wins in six matches to strengthen their hold on top spot in the division.
Director of rugby Adam Drew was delighted with his squad’s endeavours but it was not without its dramas as they had to play most of the second half with 14 men after a sending-off for dissent towards referee Lee Foster.
Droitwich had opened up a 19-0 half-time lead thanks to tries from Matt Barnes, Pete Knight and Brad Smith.
Manor Park had not lost at home for a remarkable 83 weeks and, with their man advantage, they pounded away at the hosts in the second period. But Droitwich defended resolutely and though Chris Morewood went over for a home try they visitors were celebrating an excellent afternoon’s work.
They will look to continue their winning sequence on Saturday when they entertain Old Coventrians.
