A TAEKWON-DO club in Droitwich has hailed the success of youngster Phoebe Mace after she shone on the national stage.
The nine-year-old from Droitwich Spa clinched a silver and bronze medal at the Unified ITF Taekwon-Do English Open Championships in Derby.
The event, which took place on September 28, saw Mace perform well throughout the rounds in the girls green belt patterns before losing in the final.
Despite the disappointment of missing out on gold, Mace picked herself up and collected another medal as she secured bronze after reaching the semi finals of the girls green belt sparring division.
Sally Gleaves, instructor at Droitwich ITF Taekwon-Do, described Mace as a “shining example” to the rest of her students after her success at the championships.
“I am extremely proud of her achievement,” she said. “As a club we strive to send our students to both Taekwon-Do and kickboxing world championships every year and Phoebe will be selected for England for next year’s world championships off the back of her performance this year.”
The club, which trains on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7 and 8pm at Physique Fitness, Berry Hill Trading Estate in Droitwich, are also on the look out for new members.
