MOTORSPORT - Team Dynamics off the BTCC grid in 2023

TEAM Dynamics, seven-time British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) Teams’ winners, will not feature in this year’s edition due to a lack of commercial investment.

The Droitwich-based team lost driver Dan Rowbottom, and his Cataclean backing, to rivals NAPA Racing before long-term team partners Halfords pulled their sponsorship just one week before the season launch at Brands Hatch.

However, Team Dynamics will remain active in the BTCC this season through a support agreement with ONE Motorsport and plan to return to the grid as a singular entity in the future.

Team Dynamics owner and three-time BTCC champion, Matt Neal, said: “This has been an extremely difficult decision for us to make as a business.

“Unfortunately, with the current economic climate, we have not been able to secure the commercial partnerships we required to commit to the forthcoming BTCC season.

“I’ve been in the BTCC all my life and it has presented us with many fantastic opportunities and memories, so I’m extremely disappointed that we will not be directly involved and saddened for our dedicated employees, partners, fans and supporters.

“Under our tenure, the car marque became one of the most successful manufacturers in the championship, second only to Ford in just half as many years.

“We aim to put to good use our resources and developments made over the winter by supporting One Motorsport in 2023 and helping them to win races and challenge for the Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships.

“We hope to actively be back in the BTCC in the future.”

The team’s decision to leave the grid means Team Dynamics’ three-time BTCC winner Gordon Shedden will be without a seat for the 2023 Championship.

Team Dynamics first entered the BTCC in 1992 and claimed their first race win at Donington Park in 1999 as Neal and Shedden each claimed three drivers’ titles upon their return to the grid in 2003.

The team won seven Teams Championships’ during their time in the BTCC the first of which came in 2005 and the last in 2019.
