FOOTBALL:THE SMELL of success at Bromsgrove Sporting attracted the town’s MP this week who paid tribute to the club’s achievements last season and also to the set up for future stability and glory.

Sajid Javid met the directors at Victoria Ground and was shown around and was given a briefing regarding the improvements in progress thanks to grants received from the FA and Budweiser Futures.

Work on the pitch for next season is underway and that will be followed by improvements to the clubhouse, rainwater harvesting and new floodlights.

Club Chairman John Teece said he was delighted to host the visit and said afterwards, “I am grateful that Mr Javid was able to spend a fair amount of time with us and we enjoyed telling him about the progress being made by Bromsgrove Sporting. I hope he will be able to come and watch us play next season.”

Javid, who is also Secretary of Sate for Culture which includes responsibility for sport, said: “I was delighted to visit the Victoria Ground and hear about the plans for the future. I am very proud of Bromsgrove Sporting and wish them all the best for next season.”

Bromsgrove Sporting will play in the Midland Combination Premier Division having finished runners-up in the League and won the Smedley Crooke Memorial Cup. The first major trophy for the team.

The league fixtures complete with new league teams will be announced after the league’s AGM at the end of June.
