MOTOR RACING: IT WAS up and down day for all the Midland drivers in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Croft with former champ Matt Neal in his Yuassa Honda tourer getting a sixth place in race one and a podium in race two only to have the podium taken away for a ride height infringement writes Darren Price.

Neal then received a penalty starting last in race three and then fighting his way through the field a crash with fellow Worcestershire driver Rob Austin in his Exocet Audi when three cars don’t fit into one corner.

Jason Plato struggled for outright pace in MG6 but did take a podium in race one and reigning champ Andrew Jordan in his Pirtek Honda took a very needed win to re-energise his championship challenge to take a win in race three and also a welcomed podium for matt Jackson in race three in his Airwaves Focus a great result for the Henley in Arden driver but really the major success was that of Colin Turkington in his ebay BMW taking two wins in race one and two and keeping the championship lead.

Neal’s team-mate Gordon Shedden took two second places in the first two races and a fourth place in race three in his Honda tourer to keep close to the title leader.

Colin Turkington leads on 228pts with Shedden on 221pts and Andrew Jordan in third on 200pts with Plato on 179pts.
