Nominations still open for sports awards

Droitwich Editorial 3rd Sep, 2014 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

NOMINATIONS are still open for the 2014 Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Awards, which will honour the top sporting talent from the two counties.

This year Bullivant Media – publishers of Observer and Standard newspapers across Warwickshire and Worcestershire – is delighted to be sponsoring the lead Sports Personality of the Year award.

Now in its 15th year, the Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire annual event recognises the sporting achievements and celebrates good practice within the local sporting community.

The Partnership is urging members of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire community to put forward candidates who they feel deserve recognition for their sporting achievement and dedication to sport within their community.

Stephen Brewster, Director of The Sports Partnership, said: “This event is our chance to honour our local sportsmen and women, coaches, volunteers, clubs and officials.

“For the past 15 years, we’ve received such huge support for the awards and feel it’s important the local community get their say on who’s made an impact on sport, young people and local communities.

“Recognising sporting achievements and celebrating good practice within the sporting community is at the very heart of what we do and we will be championing the hard work and talent that exists within Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

“We are looking forward to receiving and welcoming nominations in all 13 categories for our local sporting heroes.”

The annual event, which is attended by more than 250 amateur and professional sports people, local businesses and dignitaries, will take place on Tuesday, November 4 at Worcester Warriors RFC’s Sixways Stadium.
