DROITWICH Spa’s ladies section made the trip to Stourport as part of their pre-season preparations.

First up were the Seconds who took on Stourport’s sixth string.

In the first half Spa started strongly but needed keeper Helen Dent to be at her best to repel a number of Stourport attacks as the score remained at 0-0 at half-time.

After the restart Hannah Blackmore had the best of the chances for Spa but she could not find the breakthrough.

Shortly after Stourport broke the resolute Spa defence to take the lead which they held on to for the remainder of the match.

Meanwhile, Spa’s first team played Storuport’s fifth team in a stop-start encounter due to injuries to both sides.

Early on George Gibbs broke away for Spa but could not get a shot off on goal.

Stourport grew into the game, with Naomi Mountford doing well to keep the hosts at bay with a number of saves.

The closest Stourport came to opening the scoring was in the dying embers of the first half but they hit the post.

After the break Spa regrouped and their midfield began to find space.

Mollie Cresswell and Sophie Blackmore combined to set up Laura Brains but her effort was smothered by keeper Holly Gill.

Moments later Stourport took the lead from a flowing move down the left-hand side in what was the only goal of the game.
