Saltmen hope to ace Dudley test

Droitwich Editorial 20th Feb, 2020   0

Table-topping Droitwich Spa hope to kick on from a double-postponement when hosting Team Dudley on Saturday (3pm).

By the time the two sides get underway at Walshes Meadow, the Saltmen will have gone two weeks without competitive action, having last turned out in the 3-1 success over FC Darlaston in Division One of the West Midlands (Regional) League.

Both last Saturday’s trip to Willenhall Town, and Wednesday night’s home game with Wyrley, had fallen foul to the weather.

Mark Owen’s side have been keen to press on with their title bid, but have been limited to just 15 league matches this term.

Despite this, and with three games in hand on nearest challengers Wellington Amateurs – who sit level with the Saltmen on 34 points – Spa have been above and beyond the rest of the competition so far.

Droitwich will be confident of continuing their stint at the summit having romped to a 5-2 thrashing of Team Dudley in late November, with James Lemon (2), Jordan Cox, Jack Davies and Matthew Hunt the visitors’ goalscorers that day. Jack Bailey and Beckham Brazier were on target for Dudley at Priory Road.
