Spa claim fifth successive win

IN-FORM Droitwich Spa secured their fifth victory on the bounce following a win over Knowle at the King George Playing Fields on Saturday.

The match might not have been as impressive as their 9-1 thrashing of Earlswood Town and their 6-0 thumping of Coton Green in the previous two weeks.

But the victory, which included goals from Macauley Finch and James Lemon, still keeps them on the coat tails of Midland Football League Division Two leaders Chelmsley Town.

Droitwich would have looking to pick up from where they left off last week, but heavy rain and winds blowing across the pitch had an impact on proceedings.

The hosts still persisted with their usual game and they soon went ahead. With ten minutes on the clock, Finch found the back of the Knowle net before Lemon added another.

The striker, who hit six against Earlswood, opened his account when he took the ball past the keeper before rolling it home.

This gave Spa some breathing space and they continued to dominate well into the second half.

It took until the hour mark before Knowle had a shot on goal, but this was comfortably dealt with by Matt Oliver as he went on to claim a cleansheet.
