OLYMPIC champion Matt Richards has been named in the Great Britain squad for the World Aquatics Championships which take place in Fukuoka, Japan this summer.

The Droitwich swimmer recently claimed gold in the 200m freestyle at the British Championships ahead of Olympic champion Tom Dean.

Richards returns to Japan where he won Olympic gold for Britain in the 4x200m freestyle relay at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The 20-year-old is part of a 29-strong squad which includes the likes of Dean, Duncan Scott, James Guy, Anna Hopkin and Freya Anderson who are all Olympic gold medallists.

However, decorated swimmer Adam Peaty will not be part of the squad after he pulled out of the British Championships earlier this month citing mental health reasons.

The Championships take place in Fukuoka, Japan, from July 14 to 30.
