Ben Tyler 31st Oct, 2019

THE Pete Ahearn Spring Cup commenced with six first-round fixtures on Wednesday.

Masons Chalked Up advanced to the next round courtesy of a 5-3 win against Never In Salted, meaning the top two in the Mid-West Premiership are through after leaders Barley Mow received a bye.

Salt ‘n’ Asbo’s also won by five frames to three against Pillar of Dreams, a common scoreline it seemed with DWMC and Star & Garter beating Rifle No Mans and Wessie Wanderers respectively by the same margin.

The Dovey emerged victorious in their derby with The Doverdale Arms, running away with the biggest win of the night as a result of their 5-2 success.

A 5-4 thriller was edged by Hop Pole, who eliminated Pillar of Salt to ensure their progress in the competition.
