A GROUP of girls from Waseley Hills High School secured their place at the North Worcestershire School Games after seeing off the opposition at a futsal tournament.

The side, which was made up of pupils from the Rubery school, produced a series of superb showings to claim victory.

Having just had one practice together ahead of the event, the girls were unsure whether they had what it took to win the tournament.

But in the end they had nothing to worry about as Tia Williams and Amy Kendall and some superb team work steered them to success. They also had Jordan Thomas to thank as she only let in one goal in the whole tournament, which delighted coach Gillian Thompson.

“With me only being new to the school and taking over the girls football, it was fantastic to see the girls enthusiasm for the game and the excellent talent within Waseley Hills High School.” she said.

Kendalll added: “We played brilliantly and we did really well to win, especially as our team consisted mostly of younger players.”
