PREPARATIONS are being undertaken for Droitwich’s Remembrance Sunday parade.
Participants in the parade should muster by Droitwich Police Station / Salters Medical Centre, ready to step off at 10.35am tomorrow (Sunday, November 9).
Road closures will be in place to ensure public safety and the parade will led by 2156 (Droitwich) Air Cadets and standard bearers.
The parade will reach the War Memorial in Victoria Square in good time, ready for the service which starts at 10.45am and will be led by Rev Laura Handy.
Ahead of Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day (November 11), a poignant and commemorative poppy display has been installed at Droitwich’s St Augustine’s Church.
The poppy cascade will honour all those from the town and beyond who participated – and in some cases – lost their lives in the two World Wars and other conflicts.
A spokesperson for St Augustine’s Church in Droitwich said: “A huge thank you to all who contributed to the process in any way.
“The hard task of creating the actual banner was completed by small groups led by Meg Richards and Jen Kenny who worked tirelessly on the project.”
They added they were also grateful to Jamie from J Wyton Services Ltd Construction and Landscaping and Garden Care Services for actually hanging the banner on a very windy and rainy day.
The church members also want to thank The Crafty Cafe and The Old Cock Inn for supporting the project and providing a headquarters space earlier this year.
“Please do go and have a look and spare a thought for those commemorated.”
Any organisations or people wanting a wreath should email [email protected] or call 07714 418085.

The Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service are organised by Droitwich Royal British Legion and the town council.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
The parade will be even more poignant this year as the names of ‘five forgotten heroes’ have been added to the Droitwich Spa War Memorial.
