A DROITWICH school has been named as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for its inclusive practice.

Westacre Middle School achieved the status after a two-day assessment on the provision for children aged nine to 12.

The school was not only awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark but were also advised to apply to become a Centre of Excellence for inclusion due to their excellent levels of provision for all children.

The whole school community was then delighted to be subsequently named as a Centre of Excellence.

Catherine Doolin, deputy headteacher at Westacre said: “As a school we work hard to ensure the individual needs of all children are addressed.

“We know all children are different and we make it our priority to individually get to know all of our pupils and swiftly identify their strengths and any barriers to learning.

“Westacre prides itself on offering the best possible educational journey for all children.”

The assessment process involved looking at all areas of school life including the curriculum, personal development, behaviour, SEN provision along with the wider experiences and extracurricular opportunities the school offers.

The school’s headteacher Donna Evans added, “We are incredibly proud of all of our pupils, families and dedicated staff who make Westacre such a successful and inclusive school.”
