A BROMSGROVE mum has written a book to help neurodivergent children and their parents.

Vicki Jones, who was a drug counsellor in a prison and has always helped people, wrote the book ‘I’ve Got You’ for her neurodivergent son’s birthday.

She sent it to a journalist friend from Harrogate to check it and she suggested Vicki get it printed so it could assist other parents with neurodivergent children.

Neurodivergent describes people whose brains work differently – it is an umbrella description for several conditions, including autism, ADHD, dyspraxia, discalculate and others.

Vicki, whose son has autism and struggles with a number of things, especially sleep, said: “As a parent you don’t have a textbook to tell you what to do – I’ve Got You will help people navigate their way through situations.

“With neurodivergent children, every one is different and their obstacles in life need figuring out to suit the individual.”

The book uses pictures Vicki’s son has drawn and big text – parents can read it with their children together.

Vicki has had the book published via Bromsgrove Printing Co and has initially had 100 copies made. There are now less than 25 left so she is asking if any other parents would be interested in the book so she can gauge the demand.

If there is enough interest, she plans to get more printed so more parents can be helped.

Anyone who wants to contact Vicki about obtaining a copy of the book can message her via instagram.com/ive_got_you2024 or the ‘I’ve Got You’ Facebook page.
