Residents urged to have say on SWDPR review

Droitwich Editorial 18th Nov, 2022   0

RESIDENTS across Droitwich are being urged to attend a public presentation evening at 6pm on Monday, November 21, where details will be provided about the South Worcestershire Development Plan Review (SWDPR).

The event, at the Community Hall on Heritage Way, has been organised by Droitwich Spa Town Council and will feature a question and answer session regarding the review proposals within the designated parish area.

After a welcome and introductions, an overview will be provided by Coun Bob Brookes, the leader of Droitwich Spa Town Council and chairman of the authority’s planning committee.

There will then be a short presentation covering the South Worcestershire Development Plan Review in concept and details of the proposals outlined within the Municipal boundary area of Droitwich Spa. That will be presented by officers from Wychavon District Council as the local Planning Authority.

The question and answer session will provide an opportunity for people to ask Wychavon District Council Planning Department representatives about the presentation and review proposals.

There is currently a six-week SWDPR consultation period which runs until December 13.

Residents are encouraged to view and submit feedback digitally or in printed media form during this timescale.

Following Monday’s public consultation presentation meeting, Droitwich Spa Town Council will consider a Corporate Opinion response as part of the next scheduled planning committee meeting on December 5.

Public consultation on the South Worcestershire Development Plan Review Publication Consultation was approved by each of the South Worcestershire Councils last month.

This final draft version of the Local Plan is known as the Publication Plan and has been informed by earlier consultation responses received during the Issues and Options consultation in November 2018 and the Preferred Options consultation in November 2019, along with updated technical evidence.

This is the last public consultation on the plan prior to it being submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for independent examination.

This ‘Regulation 19’ consultation is specifically seeking views on whether the plan meets the legal requirements and to ensure it has been positively prepared, justified, effective and consistent with national planning policy.

The SWDP Review Publication Consultation (Regulation 19) Plan is supported by two important documents published alongside the plan – the Publication Draft Sustainability Appraisal and the Publication Draft Habitat Regulations Assessment.

People can also have their say on those two documents as part of the consultation.

Other relevant documents detailing the evidence can also be found on the SWDP website.

People can have their say via an online portal or by completing the representations form and returning it to the address provided by the close of the consultation period.
