Santa's Sleigh returns to Droitwich this Christmas

Droitwich Editorial 23rd Nov, 2023   0

THE DROITWICH Santa Sleigh will also be touring the town throughout December.

The sleigh, which brings joy to thousands and raises funds for good causes, is being operated by the Droitwich Lions.

It has now been running for more than 50 years after it was started by the Round Table.

The sleigh tour kicks off next Sunday, December 3, with a visit to Celvestune Way, followed by the Westlands and Honeymans on December 4 and to Stalls Farm Road and Old Coach Road on December 5

The man in the big red suit will be in Tagwell and Witton on December 6 and then to Hanbury Road, Impney, Swan Drive, Waterside and Hadzor on December 9. On December 10, Santa will be in Cockshute Hill and Tagwell Heights before he goes to Chawson Estates on December 11.

Father Christmas will then be heading to Yew Tree Estates (December 12), Dodderhill – Vines Lane, Woodfields, Hill End and Bays Meadow (December 13) and to Addyes Way on December 17.

The final dates include December 18 when Santa’s sleigh will delight those on Worcester Road, December 19 for Primsland Way East, December 20 for Primsland Way West and the Copcut Estate on December 21.

December 22 and 23 are being kept free in case any runs or roads are missed and the Droitwich Santa Sleigh will also have four static appearances – in the Precinct from 10.30am to 2.30pm on December 8 and 9 and outside Waitrose from 10.30am to 2.30pm on December 15 and 16.

Anyone able to help with any of the dates should email Bill Phillips at [email protected]

Bill has also urged parents not to tell their children when Father Christmas is due in case runs have to be cancelled because of weather conditions, illness, or other unforeseen circumstance.

He added: “Without the help of the volunteers last year we simply could not have done it and the same applies this year.

“So thanks in advance.”
