A WARNING has gone out to motorists after a driver was caught using the hard shoulder on the M5 to bypass traffic following a crash on Saturday.

Two lanes on the M5 between Droitwich and Worcester were shut following the collision on Saturday morning, leading to lengthy tailbacks.

The driver in question was then spotted using the hard shoulder between Junction 4 (Bromsgrove) and Junction 4 (M42) to avoid queuing.

Officers from Worcestershire Operational Policing Unit spotted the driver who will now be receiving three penalty points and a £100 fine in the post.
