Project to help children flourish leads to 'eggs-citement' at Hanbury First School

CHILDREN at Hanbury First School have been undertaking an ‘eggs-periment’ to launch the new Christian Vision.

Rev David Morris visited to introduce a new egg character to promote the school’s ethos of ‘flourishing through love and nurture’.

It centres around four ‘big stones’ which are building blocks and encompass what the students do.

The children spent the morning thinking, drawing and writing about the notion of ‘flourishing’ and how they could help themselves and others to excel.

Each class was given an egg they had to name and keep safe – Reception ensured ‘Ethel’ was warm while year two built a place for ‘Eggbert’ to live and sleep in.

Dave (year one), Eggy (year three) and Gregg (year four) were also well looked after.

Every child was also given their own plant pot and some seeds to nurture at home.

RE co-ordinator Lynn Ball said: “”We hope that the time we have spent all together and with Rev Morris today has shown the children they are a vital part of that vision.

“We’ve already seen lots of ways the children have cared for and helped their eggs to flourish already and can’t wait to see how the rest of the week goes!

“Growing seeds are another brilliant way to show what a difference a bit of time, care and attention can make.

“We hope the sweet peas we have sent home are a fun and rewarding challenge for everyone.”
