Worcestershire Archives and Archaeology Service launches new 'Starting Family History' webinars

NEW ‘Starting Family History’ webinars are organised by the Worcestershire Archives and Archaeology Service are taking place throughout June and July.

The sessions will provide help for anyone looking to discover the basics of genealogy and build their own family tree.

Participants can find out how to get the most from Census records, civil registration (births, marriages and deaths), parish registers, school and military records and much, much more.

There will be an opportunity at the end of each webinar to ask questions.




Starting Family History Part 1 is taking place on Thursdays – June 17, at 2pm and July 1, at 7.30pm.

Starting Family History Part 2 is taking place on Thursdays – June 24 at 2pm and July 8 at 7.30pm.


Paul Hudson, learning and outreach manager for the Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service, said: “Family history is fascinating but often people don’t know where to start.

“Our free online webinars which ran during lockdown were incredibly popular.

“It was great to see so many people wanting to explore their past.”

Experts from the Worcestershire Archives and Archaeology Service team will introduce attendees to key online genealogy resources such as Ancestry and Find My Past that are available free to use for public library customers.
