Churches across Bromsgrove and Droitwich to open their doors for Heritage Open Days

Droitwich Editorial 10th Sep, 2021   0

CHURCHES in Bromsgrove and Droitwich will be among those in the Worcestershire and Dudley diocese opening their doors for this year’s Heritage Open Days.

The events boast a range of activities for all ages and a chance to discover the story behind our historic churches and the communities they serve.

This year’s Heritage Open Days take place between today (Friday) and September 19, providing people with an opportunity to celebrate heritage, community and history, explore hidden places and try new experiences.

A number of churches are hosting events which will be completely free to attend.

Tomorrow (Saturday) at Hampton Lovett Church visitors will be able to explore the church’s heritage and, during the harvest season, celebrate the history and examples of farming and food production from the local area where the church is located.

Also on Saturday visitors can join St Michael and All Angels, Stoke Prior, to celebrate the completion of a six-year renovation and improvement project.

At St Andrew’s Church in Ombersley next Saturday, September 18, there is a unique opportunity to visit the Sandys

Family Mausoleum in the renovated Old Chancel of the original medieval church as well as a guided walk on the ‘Sandys of Time’ and a talk on ‘The Monarchs Way, 370 years’.
