Cheer on Wychavon's very own world championship bowls star

A STAND-OUT bowls star from Bredon is hoping the residents of Wychavon will rally their support as he makes his second appearance on the world stage.

Jack Pullin will represent England at the International Bowls for the Disabled World Championships in Ekurhuleni, South Africa next month (May 18-31).

This is another milestone for the 29-year-old who made his international debut for his country last August in the Men’s Para Pairs competition at the World Championships in Australia.

Jack started playing bowls at Bredon Bowling Club aged nine after his dad, also a keen bowls player, invited him. “I haven’t looked back since,” Jack said.

“It is a dream come true to play for your country and last year in Australia was a truly amazing experience.

“To go from a club bowler to playing for England is truly incredible and helps put the club and bowls on the map. The great thing about bowls is it is a truly inclusive sport and anyone of any age or ability can play it.”

Ahead of his shot at world championship glory, Jack was joined by Wychavon chairman, councillor Robert Raphael at Bredon Bowling Club.

Coun Raphael said: “It was great to meet Jack and hear more about his story.

“Jack is an inspirational young man and on behalf of Wychavon I wish him and the England team all the best for the tournament. We’ll be cheering him on.”
