NOW that the festivities are all done and dusted, it’s nice to have something to look forward to – and there’s plenty coming up in 2024 for the telly addicts among us to get excited about.

Plenty of hit shows are coming back this year – and entertainment experts at NoDeposit.guide analysed the unreleased seasons that saw the most searches each month across the past year to see which shows UK audiences were anticipating the most.

It found that season two of Wednesday was the most anticipated unreleased show season in the UK, coming in with a whopping 96,921 searches a month – over double the searches for second place. The second season of the supernatural series was confirmed in January of 2023 but, as of the time of the study, no release date is currently confirmed.

Coming in second on the list is Squid Game season two, with an average of 46,327 monthly searches for the next installment in the Korean survival thriller. A second season was confirmed in 2022 after it took the world by storm, but it currently has no planned release date.

Third place on the list goes to what is expected to be the last season of Netflix’s Cobra Kai, season six. It comes in with 40,179 average monthly searches, and season six is confirmed but is currently without a release date.

Fourth place on the list goes to Reacher season two, with an average of 39,279 monthly searches. The second season of the action crime drama is underway on Prime Video, having premiered in mid-December.

Rounding out the top five is the second season of the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, which comes in 28,183 searches on average a month. It is set to premiere in the summer of 2024.

As for the rest of the top ten, the sixth season of The Handmaid’s Tale, Severance season two, Tulsa King season two, and Yellowstone season five part two are proving to be in high demand.

And, reflecting its huge popularity, the Apple+ hit comedy drama Ted Lasso comes eighth in the list, despite there being no plans to continue the show after its recent conclusive third season.

Commenting on the findings, Ian Harper, a spokesperson for NoDeposit.guide, said: “It’s incredible how popular some of the entries on this list are, even without a confirmed release date, and some without even a confirmed next instalment.

“The use of social media is also a great way to build hype for new seasons and has undoubtedly contributed to the demand visible here in Google searches.

“It will be interesting to see how these averages change in the build-up to each show’s release and how they change after this.”

There are plenty more televisual treats lined up for 2024.

Heading to screens on January 14 is True Detective: Night Country, season four of the anthology crime thriller, which this time stars Jodie Foster as a detective on the hunt for a serial killer.

Masters of the Air, a Second World War companion series to Band of Brothers, debuts on January 26, starring Austin Butler, Barry Keoghan, Ncuti Gatwa and Callum Turner.

A number of other shows are expected which, despite having no confirmed release dates, are no less anticipated.

They include new sci-fi drama Three Body Problem from Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, Marvel’s revamped Daredevil: Born Again, Tom Hiddleston’s return as former military officer Jonathan Pine in season two of The Night Manager, Colin Farrell reprising his role as Gotham’s greatest crime lord in The Penguin, and Robert Downey Jr as a Viet Cong spy in The Sympathizer.

And there’s more – including Blade Runner 2099, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Bridgerton season three, Star Wars series The Acolyte, season four of edgy superhero satire The Boys, and not forgetting season five of Netflix sensation Stranger Things.
